“how do you grow your plants?”
my plants grow – mostly – in a room with a west facing window. I do not use humidifiers, my average humidity is around 50-70 percent, and all my plants seem to be okay with that.
The substrate I use is hydroponic – mainly pon, or a mix of pon and leca. Pon is a mineral substrate, mostly consisting of volcanic rocks. My hydroponics routine & tips can be found here.
I do use grow lights in the winter & in my plant cabinet. Click here for my ultimate guide on grow lights (budget friendly!).
“where did you get your plant table? how did you build it?”
All of my plant tables are self built. It’s pretty easy to convert a suitable glass table into a plant table! You can find all the important information in my video tutorial on YouTube – click here.
“how do you water the table and what do you do when the plants grow too large?”
to water the tall dining table, I have to either remove or slightly move the glass top. Then I just pour water in. This has to be done around once a month, so it’s really not much work. The smaller tables can just be topped off through the side without taking off the glass top.
“what about insects? and doesn’t the glass fog up? do the plants get enough oxygen/airflow?”
I have never had insects in the tables, ever. I am pretty sure that is because the substrate is hydroponic, inorganic. I have never had the glass fog up on any of my tables. This alone shows that the plants get enough oxygen and the airflow is sufficient. The tables are open on all four sides, after all.
